My philosophy....homemade is ALWAYS healthier, is ALWAYS cheaper, and is therefore BETTER!

When you make things homemade you will naturally never put in as much sugar or salt as the companies do-you just won't. Plus homemade means no preservatives and you know the common rule-your food should be able to go bad or its not real food!

When you make things homemade you're always saving money! Who wants to pay the manufacturer, shipper, store, etc. each for a box of cookies!?!?!

Once you go homemade-you'll never go back! Fresh food that YOU produced for your family will not only leave you feeling accomplished and proud, it tastes incredible and you'll never be able to eat the packaged stuff without comparing-and homemade will win!

Have fun, experiment, and Enjoy!

The BEST Cheese crackers!!

Do your kids love Better Cheddars or Goldfish crackers??? Then you're going to love love LOVE these!  I found these on Pinterest and they've become a favorite staple at my house!  They're amazing and the best part....easy!  Enjoy!

INGREDIENTS
1½ cups (6 oz) grated extra-sharp Cheddar cheese
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, softened and cut into pieces
¾ cup flour, plus more for dusting
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon Smoked Paprika
1 tablespoon milk

DIRECTIONS
  1. Preheat oven to 350˚.
  2. Put everything except the milk in a food processor-I use my blendtec blender-love that thing! Pulse the processor, 5 seconds at a time, for about 5 or 6 times, until the dough is in coarse crumbs.
  3. Dump out onto counter and add milk.  Knead in milk until dough is smooth..
  4. Roll the dough out on a floured board with a rolling pin that has been floured until it is about 1/8 inch thick.
  5. Place sheet of dough on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper and using a pizza cutter or knife, cut your crackers!  You can do any shape you want or cut into easy squares...just don't try to make them too perfect...even the little corners taste amazing! You can put a bit of flour on the blade of the knife to keep it from sticking.  If you want a cheezit look poke a hole in the center of each cracker.
  6. Sprinkle with a little salt!-mmmm
  7. Bake for 12 – 15 minutes until the edges are just starting to brown.
  8. Put the baking sheet on a rack and let the crackers cool completely.
  9. Eat! Or store in a covered container or ziploc.
This recipe makes 2 cookie sheets full, or more if you roll them thinner :)
IDEA:   Substitute other cheeses for the cheddar for a different snack every time!

dump out on counter and knead in milk
after its all kneaded together-nice and smooth!

Lay out rolled dough on cookie sheets lined with wax paper and bake
after they've been baked

YUMMMMY!

STATS:  Of course these are better! *check!*
Even with the white flour- you used REAL cheese, a fraction of the sodium (believe it or not 1 serving of goldfish has 260mg of Sodium!!  That's more than 25% of the daily recommended sodium intake for a toddler-and you know they're not just eating 1 serving!!!  crazy!!!) , and NO preservatives!  healthier! *check!*
Better Cheddars are around $3.50 per box for a couple cups of crackers!  You just made several cups of crackers for basically the cost of the cheese-$1.50?  cheaper! *check!*
