My philosophy....homemade is ALWAYS healthier, is ALWAYS cheaper, and is therefore BETTER!

When you make things homemade you will naturally never put in as much sugar or salt as the companies do-you just won't. Plus homemade means no preservatives and you know the common rule-your food should be able to go bad or its not real food!

When you make things homemade you're always saving money! Who wants to pay the manufacturer, shipper, store, etc. each for a box of cookies!?!?!

Once you go homemade-you'll never go back! Fresh food that YOU produced for your family will not only leave you feeling accomplished and proud, it tastes incredible and you'll never be able to eat the packaged stuff without comparing-and homemade will win!

Have fun, experiment, and Enjoy!

Enchilada Seasoning Mix

I love a good recipe starter as much as the next person! Those little packets in the aisle of the supermarket give so many ideas for meals and help you to figure out that inevitable question of 'what's for dinner?' This recipe is for Enchilada Sauce Mix-the dry mix that you can store in an air tight container (a ziploc or tuperware container) and then mix as needed!  Love that! It's your own packet in the aisle of your pantry!

Enchilada Sauce Mix
1/2 c corn starch
3/4 c chili powder
1tsp garlic powder
1 1/2 Tb salt
1/2tsp cumin
1/2tsp oregano
1Tb paprika

Mix 1T of mixture for every cup of tomato sauce.  (Throw some stewed tomatoes in the blender to make your own sauce).

Bring mixture to a boil and then simmer until it's reached your ideal thickness

Yummy!!

 Be creative and Enjoy!

STATS:
Better? This is as good as any enchilada seasoning I've ever had! *check*
Healthier? There's no additives or added salt. *check*
Cheaper? Those cute little packets are at least $1 for 2-3Tb of mix!  This mix will make 5 times using ingredients you already have in your house! *check*

  1. You read my mind! I bought some delicious organic ground turkey from Costco and Adam cooked it up one night with a packet of nasty, expired, chemical laden taco seasoning from the way back of the pantry. I can't wait to try your recipe instead.
